My motto to office wardrobe is comfort over most things but feeling good also means feeling like you look good!
Finding go to everyday pieces also makes your day easier as a busy office lady, not having to figure out your outfit everyday, going for neutrals and basics over trying different styles has worked for me. In my younger days I was much more adventurous with style and colour. I've come to recognize the simplicity of neutrals can bring peace to my busy life however everyone is different!
To start off, I always am keen on Basics:
Basics like a long sleeve clean black flowy top is a go to in colder months or oversized yet polished sweater.
Although I love mesh and other similar styles on weekends, I stray away M-F in the event it gives the wrong impression.
Classic wide leg trousers or jeans are always a safe bet. Even if it's snug on your behind, it's better to be fitted and comfortable and it's not revealing.
I generally avoid overly oversized wide legs as it's comes off as a little sloppy and feel it eats up my whole look and body being a short queen.
I love, love, love leggings but not at work unless under an oversized shirt or sweater which does not show off total legs.
If you're going to go with a wild card, I tend to go with stripes so there's colour and depth but still looks put together.
If you want to be taken seriously, keep the oversized and off the shoulder sweaters for weekends. If you want to be comfy and cosy but still profess and polished, go with a quality fabric that's simple instead.
Love me some layers with white button up!
Have fun with it and always keep style true to you. If you don't feel comfortable in it whether that be comfortable with the style, you won't look good on it. I recall always wearing tight tops and feeling so uncomfortable with wearing loose shirts or pants, but I realized you don't need the entire outfit to be loose or tight, it's about balance and dressing for how you would like to be treated especially important in males dominated fields.
I remember dressing much more feminine when I worked with all women. But all the experience in the world tells me, men and women working together still have human nature to deal with and if you want to be taken seriously, it's better to not give a reason for the latter if you can avoid it.
Maybe one day I will be in my feminine again. Maybe my amazon affiliates account will blow up to the point of leaving my industry. Until then, I should get to sleep. Besides, I haven't decided on my work Christmas party outfit for tomorrow evening!
